The transmission is a six forward, two reverse, and two P.T.O. gear type. The case is divided into three parts: the Power Transmission in the front, the Differential Lock in the center, and the P.T.O. Transmission in the rear. The filler plug is located on the top of the front power  transmission section. There is a level plug on the left side of this front portion by the left foot floorboard. Directly underneath is the drain plug.

The Satoh transmission calls for 80w90 gear oil and takes every bit of 4.49 gallons as listed in the Fluid Capacities section.

There are multiple brands and options to meet your preference including: Lucas, Mag 1, Valvoline, etc.
